Hard Drive Issues

At Cheltenham Computer Repairs, we're often faced with a number of issues related to hard drives.

When repairing computers in Cheltenham, we often have to trouble shoot problems replating to hard drives. This can be replacing hard drives which have failed, repairing hard drives by swapping the onboard Printed Circuit Board (PCB) or performing diagnostics to repairs bad sectors or lost Master Boot Records ( MBR ).

In general, we can repair a hard drive or at least get it working again. There are times when a hard drive gives up the ghost and we can do anything about it. Either the hard drive motor has failed or the read / write arm fails and then it's beyond what we can offer. If your hard drive is completely dead and you need your data back, you should contact a Data Recovery company

It's Not All Failures

We don't just repair failed drives, we often add or upgrade hard drives.

Adding a hard drive increases your available space. If your original hard drive is getting full, we can add a second hard drive and make it look like part of your original setup.

In some instances, a hard drive might be looking as if it's about to fail and so we replace it.

Most people think that when we replace a hard drive, they will lose all data or will have to re-install all their programmes, but we can take an exact image of your old hard drive and add it to the new hard drive. This will get your computer back to the exact same condition as before but with a perfectly working hard drive.
