Graphics Card Issues
If you are having problems viewing images on your screen or images freeze or remain "stuck" on your screen, then it's an indication that your graphics card is failing.
Graphics cards are easy to replace and quite cheap these days ( as long as you don't want high spec gaming cards ). For a decent, non-gaming graphics card, expect to pay around 40 pounds. You can get them cheaper but 40 pounds will get you a decent one.
Cheltenham Computer Repairs can provide adice on the best type of card for your needs
When buying a new graphics card, it's important to get one that will fit your motherboard. There are three slot types on mainboards:
- AGP
- PCI
- PCI express
PCI express is becoming more common and provides for faster graphic / gaming speeds.
Also make sure your power supply is capable of running it and has enough connectors to actually provide it power ( this is only seen on higher end cards ).
Multi-Screen Cards
A number of cards now provide the option to run multiple monitors. This allows you to extend your working area or have two windows open at the same time without the need to close one and open the other. This is particularly useful if you are a website designer because you can design on one screen and view the changes in the other.
Serious gamers will like the EyeFinity PC system from Chillblast ( shown above ). The system uses 3 monitors and spreads the image across all three allowing for much greater views when gaming. In this instance, Chillblast have chosen to use an ATi Radeon HD 5870 1024MB Graphics Card
